Nicola Macleod

Founder of Body Innovation and owner of Nicola Macleod Biokinetics.

I have been privileged to have a dynamic, high profile career of more than 18 years in the sport, health, fitness and wellness industry, an industry that has driven and inspired me from a very young age. Being active and motivating others to do the same, feels to be part of my DNA. Recently I have developed a keen interest in longevity, discovering ways to improve health-span and lifespan, that we may all live our best lives.

I completed a Sports and Deep Tissue Massage course in 2002 whilst studying Human Movement Science at the University of Pretoria, in 2005 I graduated as practical student of the year with an Honours degree in Biokinetics, here my journey into elite sport began as I worked for the Institute for Sports Research and High Performance Centre at the University of Pretoria as the strength coach and biokineticist for the SA Rowing Academy, this evolved into the South African National Rowing Team which during my almost 10 year career produced numerous World Cup, World Championship and Olympic medals, including the 2012 London Olympic Gold medal of the lightweight mens four.

During this time I started and operated Nicola Macleod Biokinetics, offering specialised training and rehabilitation and Body Innovation offering unique group fitness training, private sessions and massage, to various athletes, weekend warriors and desk players alike, while keeping my love of dance and the body alive by training the Oakfields College Musical Theatre and Dance students in body conditioning and anatomy.

Late in 2015 I was offered an opportunity to work with the Chinese National Rowing team in preparation for the 2016 Rio Olympics which resulted in a Bronze and Silver medal. The next 4 years I opted to work at a provincial level in China developing young athletes to prepare them for a career in rowing and training the senior teams of rowing and sailing as the prepared for the provincial competitions.

Now I am back home in South Africa, fulfilling my joy of motivating others to get active in ways that are different, focused and unique to your individual lifestyle.

Robyn Morgan

Biokineticist

I completed my Honours in Biokinetics at the University of Pretoria. I have always had a passion and interest in sports and working with people from a young age. I am interested in all areas of biokinetics from orthopedic injuries to chronic diseases. I feel my purpose is to help and teach people what I know and how to improve their daily living through exercise. Outside of work I enjoy being outdoors and being active.

Roche van Rensburg
"My strength, stability and flexibility improved radically. Gary has given me all the right tools to manage my chronic pain to the point where it is no longer debilitating. Thank you for helping me get my life back!"
Jacques J, van Vuuren
"Love the booty barre and pilates classes. Dedicated trainers are sure the make the sessions tough but enjoyable. Kim, Nicola and Candice know their clients (and their aches and pains) well and are always willing to tailor the movements to prevent (further) injuries and to strenghten problematic weak muscles. At Body Innovation we work hard to be stronger so that we can play harder."
